Blog Post Checklist
Before publishing any blog post, work through both checklists below. Every item in the first list should be a yes. If any item in the second list applies, do not publish.
Before you publish — confirm all of the following
Section titled “Before you publish — confirm all of the following”- The article is high quality and genuinely adds value for the reader
- The content contains at least 600 words of real commentary or information (not just a short intro and an embedded link)
- The title is clear, accurate, and 55 characters or fewer
- A meta description has been written (120–155 characters)
- The featured image is set and is exactly 1200 × 630px
- The featured image is relevant to the article content and looks professional
- At least one category has been selected
- If “Social Capital in the News” is selected, the News Article Link field has been completed with a valid URL
- All links in the content open correctly and go to the right destination
- The post has been previewed and looks correct on the page
Do not publish this article if…
Section titled “Do not publish this article if…”- The featured image is missing, blurry, pixelated, or the wrong size
- The content is “thin” — a few sentences or a paragraph with little substance
- The article is low value — it repeats something already covered without adding anything new
- The content contains spelling mistakes or grammatical errors that have not been corrected
- The article contains information that has not been verified or may be inaccurate
- The post does not have a category selected
- The “Social Capital in the News” News Article Link field has been left blank
- The content was copied directly from another source without proper attribution
- The post is not relevant to the Grow Social Capital mission or audience
